Description
The DGS-1210-10XS/ME is an ideal solution for Metro Ethernet networks. This switch features 8 x 100/1000Base-X SFP ports and 2 x 10GBase-T/SFP+ combo ports. The DGS-1210-10XS/ME supports Auto Voice VLAN, providing maximum priority for voice traffic, and offers a comprehensive set of security and authentication features to protect the network from both internal and external threats.
High Availability / Performance
The DGS-1210-10XS/ME supports Spanning Tree Protocols (STP) including 802.1D-2004, 802.1w, and 802.1s. These protocols provide backup paths for data transmission in case of network failures, ensuring high availability.The switch also supports 802.3ad Link Aggregation,allowing multiple ports to be grouped together to increase bandwidth and improve link redundancy. For Quality of Service (QoS), the DGS-1210-10XS/ME complies with 802.1p, offering 8 hardware queues with Strict Priority and Weighted Round Robin (WRR) scheduling. Packet classification can be based on ToS, DSCP, MAC address, IPv4/IPv6 address, VLAN ID, TCP/UDP port, protocol type, or user-defined packet content, providing flexible configuration for multimedia applications such as VoIP or IPTV.
Auto Voice VLAN
The DGS-1210-10XS/ME features Auto Voice VLAN, which automatically detects VoIP devices in the network and assigns them to dedicated VLANs. Voice traffic within these VLANs is given highest priority, ensuring clear, uninterrupted audio and reliable VoIP performance even under heavy network load. This feature simplifies deployment and guarantees optimal service for voice applications.
Security & Authentication
The DGS-1210-10XS/ME supports IEEE 802.1X port-based/host-based access control, Guest VLAN, and RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication for secure network access. The IP-MAC-Port Binding feature allows administrators to control device access based on IP and MAC addresses, as well as the port number, providing enhanced access management capabilities. The built-in D-Link Safeguard Engine™ identifies and prioritizes packets destined for the switch CPU to prevent malicious attacks that could disrupt normal operation. Additionally, the Access Control List (ACL) feature improves network security and switch performance.
Management Capabilities
A user-friendly web interface provides administrators with access to advanced management features, including DHCP auto-provisioning. Switches can obtain an IP address from a TFTP server and automatically load pre-defined configuration settings, enabling centralized management. The switches support Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), which advertises the device’s identity and capabilities to neighboring devices, helping administrators manage the network topology effectively. Each port also supports cable diagnostics, which can detect cable length mismatches and other faults, simplifying troubleshooting and lowering management overhead.
Traffic & Bandwidth Control
Integrated bandwidth control allows network administrators to define throughput levels for each port, with a minimum granularity of 64 Kbps for ingress traffic. The DGS-1210-10XS/ME also supports broadcast storm protection, minimizing the risk of network attacks caused by broadcast traffic. Port mirroring simplifies traffic diagnostics and allows administrators to monitor switch performance and adjust it as needed. Support for IGMP Snooping reduces unnecessary multicast traffic, optimizing network bandwidth and overall performance.
Multicast Applications
The DGS-1210-10XS/ME supports a full set of Layer 2 multicast functions, including IGMP Snooping, IGMP filtering, Fast Leave, and multicast traffic configuration on specific ports. With L2 multicast support, the switch is fully capable of handling growing IPTV applications. Host-based IGMP/MLD Snooping allows multiple multicast subscribers to share a single network interface. Using ISM VLAN, multicast traffic is delivered within a dedicated VLAN, efficiently conserving bandwidth. ISM VLAN profiles enable users to quickly assign or replace pre-configured multicast settings on subscriber ports, simplifying network management.
